John Merritt, Wood Carver

I found this video today. The caption on youtube says, “John Merritt has been carving for more than 50 years.”

At 1:41, he shows us a link of chains he carved from a toothpick.

I agree with one of the comments under the video,
“I would have cried and put it in a frame if I had done something like that.”

It’s just incredible. That someone would make a ‘useless’ carving that would take so much skill. There’s always a sense of wonder to whimsy carvings. Have any of you ever done one? This kind of stuff looks like it would be a lot of fun.

I can just imagine my kids asking, “How did you get the ball in there?”
